Lam-ang... A play to remember

Hi guys!

Vanessa here and in today's blog is all about a play i watched during December and no, it's not about Christmas, but instead its about a well known folk tale that is very famous in our country and that is Biag ni Lam-ang and it was that folk epic that the University of the Philippines student's made

The play was held at the UP DULAANG LABORATORYO  with the tittle“LAM-ANG”
Musikastorya ng Pag-ibig at Pakikipagsapalaran" which was based on the ilocano epic of  Mr. Pedro Bukaneg's “Biag ni Lam-ang” and was adapted in Tagalog by ms. Angel Acacio

The  music they use for the play was made by Ms. Jen Darlene V. Torres
and was directed by Mr. Fitz Edward Bitana;

The playwrite was also made by ms. Jen Darlene Torres which was supervised by
 Dr. Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete.

The play  screened  one December 12,13,14, 2017 | 4PM & 8PM

My first initial reaction to this play is that the Up team knows how to work their magic in the realms of creativity from the stage through the character's costumes but the thing that i'm most impressed is the acting of each of the cast, which was very spot on.

The awesome story they portrayed made everyone screamed, giggle , laugh and overall made the experience so much worth it. As i was watching though i noticed how the music was used in the play. I say it as it is because the music they use was not digital but instead they really use real native instrument like a bamboos, cymbals, a kagul, a kubing, a kulintang, a badandil, maracas, and other native instruments that indeed is great and refreshing to hear and see, since they were playing it just across us.

Sadly the people of UP didn't allow us to take pictures and videos during the play but it was in good reason, first, the place is dark and when i think about it...it would be very distracting and very annoying if they did allow it...you know flashes and what not. Second if they did allow people to take video...it would definitely get future watchers spoiled...and no one wants to gets spoiled haha.

 The played ended happily and to be honest i really love the ending they made because even if  its the usual happy ending...it was worth it because the person playing lam-ang  was so good in his character and its the same with the other characters in the play.

But everyone in my class loved the dog character because of his wacky personality towards his companions but the thing i enjoyed the most is his interaction towards Saridandan, which i can say was very adorable hahaha.

Mister dog is so funny and nice even off the screen!!

 I like Mister Chicken too lol he's also a funny character in the play and one of my favorite as well

As the play ended we all went home but we stop for a few seconds just  to admire the beautiful Christmas themed designs that the UP People made here in their campus and with that it brought smiles on our faces because the play was indeed memorable that we even talked about it when we got home via messenger!!

 That's going to be the end of this blog and as always have a great day/night guys
